Panel discussion

“Just for me or for everyone? Collecting art and making it visible”

Panel guests: Birgit Maria Sturm (BVDG, Berlin), Yasmin Mahmoudi (Dr. Mahmoudi & Partner Rechtsanwälte, Cologne), Dr. Felix Krämer (Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf), Hans-Ewald Schneider (Hasenkamp Logistik, Köln)

Moderation: apl. Prof. Dr. Nadine Oberste-Hetbleck (ZADIK, University of Cologne)

At the latest when the first work of art is purchased, the confrontation with a number of questions that go beyond art begins. These include legal aspects, logistics and insurance. As a collection grows, further questions arise: Where will the art be placed if there is no more room at home? Should the collection be made accessible to the public? If so, which model is best for the individual? Many things are conceivable: From loans for exhibitions, to permanent loans for museums, to setting up your own museum or foundation. Experts from the field will shed light on the topic of 'collecting and the public'. At the same time, they will discuss the effects that framework conditions such as VAT can have on collecting.
